WOC Healing Circle

Healing Circle with Kayann (Iya Amoké) to discuss the health, issues and solutions for the womb. This space is created for Sisters seeking to address: menstrual cycle complications, healing from sexual trauma, PhBalance, Yoni Steams and Vaginal Rejuvenation, Self Pleasure and Womb Forgiveness using diet and chakra alignment from a lens of Afrikan spirituality.

Journaling, artistic expression and intention setting/manifesting are some of the tools used on path to healing and thriving from within. We will express our current conditions discretely to the host and be guided in open dialogue for each heart in the room to get the information needed to experience optimal peace & healing in our core. You will leave with tools to heal Self, herbs to keep around for aid and a regime that fits your life and needs for peace with your womb.

This event is reserved for women and non-binary members of color. We believe it’s important to create safe spaces for people of color to gather, share, and heal.

Running Breathless: Creating Space for Chronic Illness

“Running Breathless” is a short film about a young woman living with a chronic illness. The film came as a response to a lack of representation of invisible disabilities on screen. As the filmmaker, Laurel Schwartz, explains: “A chronically ill life comes with health challenges that are neither acute nor fatal and it is a life that deserves a place on screen.” The film is meant to start a conversation about how we as a community might “poetically world-make” such that people living with chronic illnesses not only feel validated, but also have the tools they need to thrive.

Join filmmaker Laurel Schwartz for a screening a Q+A about the film and a discussion about chronic illness. She’ll be joined by Aria Love, a young chronic illness activist and one of the subjects of Laurel’s next film.

Learn more about the “Running Breathless” here.

It’s not about putting MORE on your plate- it’s about portion control! Seriously. We don’t need to do more, we just want to finish what is already on our To Do list.

During this fun and engaging workshop you will learn how to be more mindful about spending your time and expending and renewing your energy. Kathy wants you to be able to work on the stuff that’s important and meaningful to you and your business. Let’s kick start this new year with a healthier perspective about taking control of our own busy schedules and energy levels.

"I speak, coach and advise clients and audiences about how to be more proactive leaders, negotiators and effective communicators so they can have a more manageable, successful and sustainable work life.

Many busy professionals struggle with the false premise that everyone else can do it all i.e., effortlessly balance work and life. My passion is to help professionals and entrepreneurs realize they are not alone in trying to figure it out. We all wish we had more time, energy and money. You aren’t alone in the struggle to find more time, energy and money at work and at home. You have me #inyourbackpocket" - Kathy Hanson

Homebuying 101: Claim Your Economic Power and Close the Gender Wealth Gap

Homebuying 101: Claim Your Economic Power and Close the Gender Wealth Gap

Women are building equity and wealth in real estate at a faster pace than any other demographic in the country. Single women are buying homes at more than twice the rate of single men. Single women also make up the second-largest segment of homebuyers after married couples (in which women tend to be the majority influencer in homebuying decisions). More women homebuyers leads to a changing economic landscape and shapes the way wealth accumulates. Building equity is building power – and women are building it at record rates.

Dreaming of a place to call your own? At this (free!) townhall, we’ll talk about how home ownership can build wealth, and share the important steps to homebuying for renters and first time buyers. No dry spreadsheets – just real questions and answers. We’ll talk through financial readiness and financing options, the offer process, and current market conditions.

Join us for drinks and bites. Bring all your questions - this will be a fun and interactive Q&A format.

Speakers:

Amanda Buhman, Leah Drury and Jill Numrich, Realtors, Urban Nest team at Lakes Sotheby’s International Realty

Allison Shaw, Mortgage Lender, Waterstone Mortgage

Paid Family and Medical Leave Town Hall
Jan

6:00 PM18:00

Paid Family and Medical Leave Town Hall

Women make up nearly half of Minnesota’s labor force (48 percent) and more than one-quarter of its business owners (27 percent).  However only 13% of Minnesota workers have access to paid family and medical leave. That means women are forced to face impossible choices when new children are born or adopted and when serious personal or family health needs inevitably arise.

As workers struggle to balance caregiving with their job responsibilities, many end up facing economic hardship. Caregiving demands may even lead to effects felt across years or a lifetime due to lost jobs, missed raises, and reduced Social Security benefits. Employers, especially small rural ones, are also struggling to attract and retain good workers in competition with larger metro area employers that can afford to offer such benefits. Our current system has failed and is costly to workers, their families, businesses, and our economy. It’s time to modernize our workplace standards and benefits.

At this townhall, we'll hear from experts/Moms/business owners and advocates about ways to address this and policy solutions that would provide paid family leave to all Minnesotans.

Speakers:

Stephanie Hogansen, from the Children's Defense Fund MN

Margi Scott, from Take12

Alex West Steinman from The Coven
