Minnesota National Period Day Rally with PERIOD.UMN

On October 19, 2019, we will rally for NATIONAL PERIOD DAY -- elevating the issue of period poverty and demanding real change to making period products more accessible for all in the state of Minnesota. This is an inclusive rally! Whether you menstruate or not, EVERYONE is welcome. Bring all your family and friends!

PLEASE: Bring posters! Bring a box of menstrual products to donate to our product drive! Wear red in honor of #NATIONALPERIODDAY

It’s 2019, and yet, 1 in 4 women struggle to afford period products due to a lack of income. Because of the period stigma that makes menstruation a taboo topic, we don’t often think about what it’s like for a homeless or low-income menstruator to get their period, and don’t have open conversations about period health or solutions to period poverty.

We believe that it is a fundamental human right to be able to discover and reach your full potential, regardless of a natural need – and what could be more natural than menstruation? Simply put -- MENSTRUAL HYGIENE IS A RIGHT, NOT A PRIVILEGE. We are the Menstrual Movement -- fighting for equitable access to menstrual hygiene, and breaking down the stigma surrounding periods. This fight is on ALL OF US, and we must TAKE ACTION NOW. Unlike most poverty-related issues, this one is solvable. For more information on PERIOD.MN visit: https://gopherlink.umn.edu/organization/periodmn

St. Paul Witching Hour

The Coven is a community and workspace designed for women, non-binary, and trans people that opened in Minneapolis in 2018. Over the past year, we have created and provided a welcoming space and support system to more than 400 members in the North Loop. Construction is underway for our expansion to Saint Paul by the end of the year.

In a critical next step on our path to expansion, we are hosting Witching Hours (otherwise known as our version of a listening sessions, but fun!). These Witching Hours are intended to share our mission with others in the spirit of learning and, hopefully, ongoing partnership opportunities. We will have refreshments and great company, as well as free passes to our existing Minneapolis space and future Saint Paul location to offer for your participation.

Hosting these Witching Hours prior to opening our first location in Minneapolis was an essential part of our success in building a community truly from the ground up, partnering with other folks who strive to be a catalyst for transformation in creating more equitable spaces and communities in the Twin Cities.

What are recruitment methods? What can you do? Recruitment of youth can occur anywhere, from at the malls, within social groups, at school, and many unexpected areas. Ayurveda is a holistic lifestyle science that originated in India over 5,000 years ago. Ayurveda offers a unique view into individual biology through bodily constitutions, called “doshas.” During our Ayurvedic Wisdom workshop, you’ll discover your doshic make-up and explore how it can help you understand what foods, exercises, and daily rhythms work best for you. A key principle of Ayurveda is that if we work with the natural constitution of our bodies, we’re able to create efficiencies, avoid issues, and heal our mind-body-spirit system. Instead of following one-size-fits-all health recommendations, you’ll feel refreshed with a sense of empowerment in making health choices according to your individual, doshic needs.
